BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide, a chain of 15 amino acids, whose sequence was derived from a partial sequence of a protein found in human gastric juice. The name stands for Body Protection Compound. It was first described in the early 1990s by researchers at the University of Zagreb and has since become one of the most frequently published peptides in the research literature.
